Dear Designers and Readers,
My first blog was made
for a now dead account in about 2008. My first avatar was started in
late 2006, and even the avatar I use now was born in 2011. So I've been
here a long ass time.
When I started, I started looking up to bloggers like Its Only Fashion
which started around 2008 and is still running if you can believe it.
Much kudos to them. And also to Sasy Scarboroughs older blog which also
started way back then. She's now @ Sasypants.
The point is, in those days, sl fashion was just starting out. There
was no mesh, no sculpt, just prims and textures. And I followed in the
foot steps of those before me by giving an *honest* yet not *rude*
review. I've never stopped.
I always give full
credits for everything I'm wearing. No, I don't give a damn about
someone copying me and truthfully unless you are using some kind of
copybot gear, I don't believe it's possible. My shape is highly
individualized just for me, the eyes and whatnot I wear, even if you buy
the same exact ones are going to look different from me than they do on
you. I still consider that asking where I got something is a compliment.
But I also point out things I dislike. That's what review
means. It doesn't mean simply praising the item, it also means pointing
out whatever small and they usually are very small things I don't like.
Usually it's easily fixable.
And I give reasons why I
don't like it. Recently I said I didn't like this naming convention some
designers are using of merely giving numbers to your colors. If I'm
buying a fatpack, I can see the colors on the hud. But if I'm only
buying singles which I do frequently especially on jeans because I
really don't need 15 pair of blue jeans in the same exact style,
then I have no idea what color 8 looks like until I put it on,
especially if there's no picture of the colors with an explanation
thereof.
It's the same with skin tones. How can I know
what skin tone 3 is if there's no picture in the pack showing what that
color and all the colors for that matter look like. Generally I can
remember what color honey or porcelain is, or at least make a guess
based on the name. The same with jeans, I can guess what faded blue or
deep blue is based on the name.
Another time I said I
didn't like the way a top was made. It was a great top and I liked it.
It was made with one shoulder down which is great. But something about
the way it was rigged made it so that there was a hole in certain moves
of my ao and nothing I did with the alphas for my body or with changing
my shape made any difference. I honestly don't see how this could be
worn by anyone without having this same clipping and it was clear to me
that the creator had not tested it in other poses rather than say a t
pose or an arms down pose. Since I paid 250 for the top, I feel this is a
serious issue and I feel potential readers and buyers should be made
aware of it. And yes, I contacted the maker as well who should be glad I
didn't report how rude she was to me over it.
In
short, I will be honest about items I show in my blog. I will credit as
fully as I can including what poses are used. My blog is not only a
fashion blog but a blog about my experiences in sl and about my second
life. But I do show pictures and I will credit what I'm wearing. Thanks
for reading this.
